TEACHING & MENTORING
Guidelines for students who need a letter (LOR) for MS, PhD or other applications. Please read them in full before you email.
A strong letter needs real academic, research or professional engagement. Before you ask, check how many of these apply to you:
You did your final-year thesis or research under my supervision.
You worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for one of my courses.
You took part in research or professional activities with me.
You co-authored a publication with me.
You volunteered (speaker, instructor, ambassador or team member) with BRWF or BRBD.
At least two apply (or one substantial, exceptionally strong engagement): you may request up to three (03) letters, soft copy or online, per term. None apply: please do not request a letter.
Contact me as early as possible. At least two (02) full weeks must remain before the deadline when you add my name or email to an admission portal. Requests with shorter notice cannot be accommodated because of my academic, research and administrative commitments.
Email me at sabir.cse@cuet.ac.bd with the subject “Request for Recommendation Letter for <Your Name>”, a short introduction and the details listed below.
Attach the documents in the checklist below.
Wait for my confirmation by email before you add my name or email to any admission portal.
Follow up once, politely, 2–3 days before the deadline, to confirm the letter was submitted or whether anything else is needed.
Course(s) taken with me (as a student or TA at CUET, BOU, KFUPM, BRWF/BRBD or any format): course name, semester and year, grade received.
Research work or publications with me, if any.
Points to highlight in the letter: achievements, notable incidents, research skills, leadership, publications.
Universities or institutes you are applying to, and the program (MS, PhD or other).
Recommendation type: soft copy or online only. Hard copies are not available while I am outside Bangladesh.
Exact submission deadline(s), with a screenshot or official proof (mandatory).
Detailed academic CV
All academic transcripts
Statement of Purpose (SOP)
Screenshot or official proof of the LOR deadline (mandatory)
Any other relevant supporting documents
Permission to use my name as a referee is valid for one academic term only. If I provide 1–3 letters for a term, that permission ends with the term.
Do not reuse or carry my name or email forward to a later semester, intake or application cycle.
For each new term or intake, ask again by email and meet all the eligibility, timeline and procedure requirements on this page.
Adding my name to a portal for a future term without renewed consent means the request is refused, whatever letters I provided before. This keeps the process fair, balances my workload and keeps each letter accurate for its application cycle.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
